Brussels Sprout Brodie F1 Seeds
Brussels Sprout ‘Brodie’ F1 is one of the UK’s leading mid-season Brussels sprout varieties, renowned for its outstanding flavour, excellent garden performance and reliable heavy yields. Popular with both home gardeners and commercial growers, this premium F1 hybrid produces strong, upright plants carrying masses of round, dark green buttons with a remarkably mild, sweet taste and virtually no bitterness. It has become a favourite for autumn harvesting and is widely recognised as an excellent choice for Christmas dinners.
The attractive sprouts are uniform in size, firm in texture and develop evenly up the stem, making harvesting simple and consistent. One of the variety’s greatest strengths is its excellent holding ability, allowing the sprouts to remain in prime condition on the plant for many weeks without losing quality. Brodie F1 also offers good resistance to leaf and button diseases, giving gardeners dependable crops even during challenging growing seasons. Whether steamed, roasted, stir-fried or served traditionally alongside a roast dinner, the sweet, tender sprouts provide outstanding flavour throughout autumn and early winter.
Sowing & Propagation

Sow in modules, seed trays or a prepared seedbed. Cover seeds lightly with compost and maintain even moisture during germination.
When seedlings have developed several true leaves, harden them off before transplanting into fertile, firm soil in a sunny position. Space plants approximately 60cm apart, allowing 60–75cm between rows to encourage strong growth and good air circulation. Firm the soil well around each plant to promote sturdy stems and prevent wind rock.
Growing On
Grow in fertile, moisture-retentive soil enriched with well-rotted organic matter. Water regularly during dry periods to maintain continuous growth and apply a balanced fertiliser during the growing season.
Protect crops from pigeons, cabbage white butterflies and caterpillars using insect-proof netting where necessary. Remove any yellowing lower leaves as plants mature to improve airflow and maintain healthy growth. Practising crop rotation will also help minimise brassica diseases.
Harvesting
Harvest from September through December, picking the firm sprouts from the bottom of the stem upwards as they mature. The excellent holding ability of Brodie F1 allows the sprouts to remain on the plant in excellent condition for an extended period, giving a long harvesting season. The sweet, tender sprouts are delicious steamed, roasted, stir-fried or served as part of traditional autumn and Christmas meals.
